Silhouette Cameo 4 Vinyl Cutter

Introduction[edit]

The Silhouette Vinyl Cutter

A Silhouette Cameo 4 vinyl cutter.

The Cameo 4 is a versatile machine capable of cutting up to 12 inch wide materials. It has a built in roll feeder, or can use a cutting mat for sheets of up to 12 inches square.

The Cameo 4 is kept in the Main Room upstairs, under a blue dust cover. It usually lives on top of the drop box filing cabinet. Accessories and other blades are kept in the upstairs cupboard.

The machine has a twin blade system, with the ability to auto-detect which blades have been loaded for different operations (eg, a cutting blade and a punch blade to make weeding easier). With the correct blade fitted the machine can cut :

  • Vinyl
  • Heat transfer material
  • Cardstock
  • Photo paper
  • Corrugated paper
  • Fabric
  • Leather

The lab has limited stocks of different vinyls and transfer tape available in the Laser Room, individually priced. Other suppliers can be found on the main Suppliers Page

The Cameo 4 uses Silhouette Studio software to drive the cutter. The is available for Windows and MacOS hosts. There is a free basic version that can be installed on any system and a licensed version which supports additional file formats and features. Software can be downloaded from Silhouette America

The user manual for the Cameo 4 can be found here. The software manual for Silhouette Studio can be found here.
